"Did Anyone Order Me A Plain Cheese?"

Christmas is upon us and that means The Grinch, Elf, and Home Alone are constantly being played on repeat. I’ve began to realize that I relate to Kevin McCallister, from Home Alone, on a very deep and personal level. No, I was never accidentally left Home Alone because let’s be honest who could forget me (jokes). But in all reality, I was never accidentally left (to my knowledge at least) home alone because they would have noticed the excessive amount of talking would have stopped. Never the less, our connection stems from our true love of cheese pizza.
Cheese pizza is a staple that people tend to neglect. I can’t say with 100% certainty but I feel everyone in their youth was always down for a slice of cheese. It’s the most simple and traditional pizza there is. It's apart of our childhoods. Think about it, basically every pizza is built with the foundation of a cheese pizza. However, now that I’ve reached adulthood I tend to get mocked for enjoying a slice of plain cheese on occasion.
Now to put this into perspective. The Home Alone movie highlights my exact argument that everyone deep down, even though they are too prideful to admit it, doesn’t mind cheese pizza. When Kevin goes downstairs to eat his cheese pizza it turns out to already be gone. Ironic right? The McCallister family is massive and they had ordered a bunch of different kinds of pizza yet cheese was the first to go.
Cheese pizza comes with no questions or uncertainty, it just is what it is. When ordering pizzas for a party or gathering people tend to order more cheese, and I guess pepperoni, because it’s safe. I understand that cheese pizza may not be the fanciest or most extravagant pizza there is but that’s what makes it so unique, it’s traditional. If cheese pizza was in a Miss America pageant it may not take the crown for most photogenic but being America’s sweetheart I feel is a category it’d walk away with. From now on just remember when you laugh about my cheese pizza ordering ways I know deep down you secretly want a bite.
